Description

This is a fascinating region in Cepheus, with a lot going on!  The star of the show is Barnard 175, the tall pillar of dust snaking up from the bottom of the frame, capped off by vdb 152, the bluish reflection nebula at the very top.  Look a little closer and you'll see a couple of blue streamers coming off the very top of the reflection nebula - this is the Herbig Haro object HH 450, coming from a young star.  The colorful red and blue spherical object in the lower right quadrant is what remains of an old planetary nebula, DeHt-5.  There is also a supernova remnant in this field, but I didn't shoot any Ha so if it's there, it's very faint and I'm not sure if what we're seeing is that remnant or "just dust."

Although I shot LRGB data, the L didn't add anything so the result shown here is RGB only.

The data was captured between October 2020 and December 2021 - yes, I'm that far behind in processing!

Thanks for stopping by.
